Business Central 2022 Release wave 1 – the plan is out

What can we expect in the next major release?

Yesterday Microsoft released their plan for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central 2022 Release Wave 1.

2022 Release wave 1 will be the next major version of Business Central. The release is expected to happen in April and there will be a public preview available in March.

There are a lot of exciting things to read from the plan. Some of the changes was expected and some nice surprises seems to be coming all the Business Central users way.

I have tried to pick some highlights here.

Shopify connector

The integration to Shopify was announced last Autumn as has found its way into the April release. This will allow Business Central users worldwide to expand their ecommerce plattform using Business Central and Shopify. Shopify is a major ecommerce plattform widely used and will be a great benefit for a lot of Business Central organizations.

Outlook add-in – add attachments directly from emails to Business Central

This feature will make it easier to add attachment in Business Central directly from Outlook. For those of you who are not aware that Business Central got a very nice Outlook add-in that lets you work with your Business Central data directly from Outlook should really check that out.

Integration with the Power plattform

It is no surprise that Microsoft is investing heavily in the Power plattform. That is also very noticeable for the Business Central community. In 2022 Release wave 2 we will see major improvements in the Business Central connectors for both Power Apps and Power Automate. These no-code / low-code platforms really adds a lot of value to a product like Business Central. Enabling end users to create great automation processes with out the need for a dedicated developer.

Easier on boarding

Microsoft wants it to be as easy as possible for new customers to get on board with Business Central. And in the next major release they are doing several improvements that makes it easier for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central partners to build a great on boarding experience for their new Business Central customers.

And there are so much more……

I could only cover a few highlights in this post. But i encourage you all to read the whole release plan and find your favorite new feature. And i will make sure to make new posts as we get more details about the new features. Please comment below if there are things you are interested in reading more about.
